About the position
We are seeking a senior-level Specialist to execute a communications strategy that enhances CHECOD’s visibility across our website, social media, and other platforms. The role focuses on creating engaging, audience-specific content while maintaining consistent branding and messaging.
Responsibilities
- Edit and produce content for CHECOD across various formats, including both print and digital.
- Curate, edit, and coordinate the layout of a newsletter for distribution to broader audiences.
- Serve as the in-house brand specialist, ensuring consistency in CHECOD’s branding across all outputs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan, write, and support media activities related to our initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts to increase awareness of our work.
- Maintain and update accounts across social media platforms (LinkedIn and X).
- Engage with regular and social media to actively promote CHECOD’s image and visibility.
- Flag and respond to inaccurate or misleading comments on social media to mitigate potential impact.
- Innovate ideas and approaches for delivering digital content for promoting CHECOD’s programmes.
- Ensure the organization’s website is accessible and regularly updated with relevant information.
- Monitor and assess media coverage, providing recommendations for future communications strategies.
- Carry out communication or media tasks as assigned by the team lead or management.
Person specification
Essential (mandatory requirements for the role)
- A bachelor’s degree in communications or a media-related discipline.
- Excellent command of English, with strong verbal, written, and editorial skills.
- 4+ years of experience in communications, knowledge management, or a related role.
- Experience creating diverse communication materials, including media advisories, policy briefs, newsletters, case studies, articles, and annual reports.
- Proven ability to translate technical reports into clear, engaging content for non-experts.
- Demonstrated expertise in growing social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn and X.
- Proven experience in implementing communications strategies for projects or organizations.
Desirable (preferred qualifications and skills)
- A master’s degree in communications, public health, policy, international development, or a related field.
- Experience working on donor-supported health programmes or public-private partnerships.
- Experience in creating infographics and other visualizations that simplify complex information.
- Experience managing and updating websites using WordPress or similar tools.
- Proficient in using analytics tools to measure website or social media performance.
- Skilled in creating graphics using Adobe, Affinity, or comparable software suites.
